Tech World is a small computer services firm in the Chicago Area. This site is our e-commerce arm. We're sorry but we are still too small to provide 24 hour phone support. We do answer all calls and emails, but it is often impossible to reach anyone directly on the telephone since we are usually out at client sites on projects. You can contact us via telephone, but voicemail will normally answer this line. We return voicemail messages as quickly as possible. Orders should be placed through the website whenever possible, this is your most secure method of order placement. Order Acceptance
Normally all orders are accepted, however, orders placed with unresolvable email addresses, without phone numbers, with other questionable or suspicious information will be held or rejected and a notice will be sent for clarification. If we do not receive an email response, your order may be cancelled. Please use an email address that is current and monitored for order placement. Temporary addresses are acceptable, but you'll miss out on future coupon offers.

Web Security
Our site runs on Yahoo Store, one of the most trusted names in the industry. During checkout you will see Yahoo screens for login and data entry. You can use your Yahoo ID, but you are not required to have a Yahoo ID to use our store. If you do have a Yahoo ID, using it will allow you to view any purchases made thru Yahoo Store merchants in a single place.
The website order system uses secure HTTP indicated by (https:// in the URL) and all data is encrypted during the order process. We recommend using the website for all credit card orders. Portions of the website are not encrypted, but all order processing runs encrypted.
Fax Orders
You can also place credit card orders via fax at the number above. The website is more secure for this, but if you prefer to fax your order, be sure to include your shipping and billing addresses, credit card number and expiration, and email address. You can retrieve current pricing and a shipping quote from the website by entering an order (without actually placing it through the website.)

Minimum Orders
To allow our customer to purchase single items as needed, we do not currently have an order minimum. To offset order handling costs, orders under $10 are subject to a $3.95 handling charge.
Return Policy
Returns are subject to the following terms and limitations:
If you are not completely satisfied with your purchase, you can return items within 30 days for a full refund. We warranty all items for 90 days, and will exchange any item found to be defective.
Cable testers and electronics also carry manufacturer warrantees, typically 1 year. Manufacturer warranty claims should be filed according to the terms defined in the product manual, normally directly with the manufacturer.
If your item is not working properly please contact us via email at the address above or refer to our technical notes section to see if your item is listed for common, easily resolved issues.
Return Limitations
- Cable testers and electronics are subject to a 15% restocking fee. This is a necessary step to prevent rental abuse.
- Items returned with damaged packaging or missing components are subject to a 15% restocking fee. Items must be returned in saleable condition to receive full refund credit.
- Returns of items purchased under free shipping offers will be refunded less the actual shipping and handling charges.
- Returns of items purchased under free merchandise offers are subject to charges for free items if return goods reduce the order amount below the purchase qualifications for the order. Free items may be returned to avoid charges.
- Returns or exchanges must be shipped to us via UPS, insured and prepaid. Goods damaged or lost in shipment will not receive credit.
- We do not issue call tags for product returns and do not accept CODs
- All returned items must be in saleable condition, undamaged, unmodified, clean, unmarked and complete with all manuals, accessories, and original packaging and in resaleable condition to receive full credit. Warranty seals must be present and intact.
- Consumable items are not returnable once used. These include but are not limited to: connectors, bulk cable, patch panels, network jacks and punch tools.
- Products will be evaluated upon return to us (or to the manufacturer) to confirm defects prior to issuing any credit. This process may take up to a week.
- Products are not warranted for misuse, or for any consequential damages from their use. Industry standards should be followed for all cable installations. Refer to BCSI or TIA standards for more info.
- You are responsible for testing all cables or devices you manufacture from component parts before attempting to use them. You are solely responsible for the proper and safe use of cables you manufacture.
- Used parts are not returnable. Items designated as as-is are not returnable. We guarantee used equipment against DOA.
- Serial numbers are tracked for security purposes and are matched against returns.
To return an item, contact us via email at the address above to obtain a Return Materials Authorization (RMA) number. RMA numbers are valid for 30 days after the order date. We are unable to accept returns without an RMA number.
Shipping
UPS Shipping rates are provided dynamically during the order process and are obtained from the UPS website.
We use UPS for all shipments. We do not use US Mail or Fedex. We ship only to the US 50 states, not to US territories, Canada or APO/FPO. Sorry, but due to a high percentage of problems with these shipment we are forced to discontinue service outside the 50 states to maintain our low prices.
In stock orders normally ship same day, but may ship within one business day. WE are not currently offering same day shipment for rush orders. Next Day Air orders may ship next business day. Shipping closes at 4PM CT. We may ship later on some days, but 4PM is the official cutoff. Current stock status is indicated on the shopping cart page. In the event of an inventory error an email notice will be sent out indicating expected ship date.
Shipments are FOB Chicago, which means if there is a lost or damaged shipment, you need to email us and notify UPS at 1-800-PICK-UPS to file a claim. Once we recieve a claim approval, we can reship as necessary. UPS will typically attempt to relocate missing packages prior to issuing a credit.
We do not use shipper release under any circumstances and will not mark packages to be left at the door. If you write "leave at door" the order will be filled and shipped as a normal shipment. Contact UPS to make arrangements to leave packages or ship them to your local customer counter for pickup. ID is required to pickup shipments at a UPS facility.
PayPal
We accept Master/Visa/Discover/AmericanExpress for online payment. You may also make payments via PayPal. Place your order using your PayPal email address. We will send you a PayPal invoice for the order total. If you do not have a PayPal account, please visit www.paypal.com for more info.
Sales Tax
Sales Tax applies to Illinois ship to addresses at the IL tax rate of 6.5% (subject to change without notice)
Business Accounts
For Credit Card orders:
- Enter your order at the website to receive pricing and shipping quotes.
- Enter your credit card information and submit your order.
For Purchase Orders:
- Complete an account application (MS Word format)
- Schools and other verifiable government offices are not required to submit an application. Please fax your official PO to the number below.
- Fax the PO and account application to the number above
- You should include an email address if you want to get shipment verification and updates. All confirmations and status updates happen via email.
- Minimum Purchase Order is $50
If your accounting department requires vendors to complete applications, we will do so only for orders over $1000. For most inquiries the information you will require is available in the new accounts package. We will provide a W-9 to any customer on request. No account paperwork will be provided unless the request is accompanied by a Purchase Order or a Purchase Order has already been submitted.
International Sales
We ship internationally, only under wire transfers for volume orders. Order minimums apply. Email for a quote. International credit cards are not accepted. All credit card orders must be drawn on US Banks. International card orders will be cancelled. All orders must be prepaid. No exceptions.

Prices change regularly and are subject to change without notice. Web pricing errors are subject to correction (with prior notice). We do not offer pricing guarantees, but we do try to offer the lowest prices that we can.
