GIGA-X is an economical cable and circuit tester that works with active or inactive circuits. The device is one sided, and does not require a remote end device. For live circuit testing your ethernet switch acts as the remote end.
When testing live circuits it displays:
- Cable length (in meters)*
- Supported link speeds
- Half/Full duplex capability at each speed
- Auto MDI/MDI-X (crossover) capability
- Pairs in use/open
When testing inactive circuits (unplugged cables or house wires) the GIGA-X displays cable length and shorted pairs. Detects 10mbps, 100mbps, 1000mbps circuits. Gigabit, fast ethernet, standard ethernet, Cat5, Cat5E, Cat6. Requires 4 AAA batteries (not included). Comes with a test cable.
* older 10mbps 10Base-T only equipment cannot support the length measurement. When testing in this environment, you must unplug the cable at the remote end to get a length measurement. Any equipment that supports 100mbps or 1000mbps can be length tested live with the cable connected.
